In the summer of 2012 I walked into Eric Johnson’s office at ALIVE Media with a wonderful idea for an oral history, a book of short stories honoring the pilots I had worked with at Western Airlines who had served in Vietnam. I wanted to produce a first class book that would be a treasure both to the men who had written their stories and their families. Six years later, in the summer of 2018, the third volume in what has become a series, Vietnam to Western Airlines, is about to go to print. ALIVE Media is a family business. I have not only enjoyed working with Eric, his wife Peggy, and his son Alex, they have become dear friends and have been a source of encouragement and inspiration as I have collected the stories for these volumes. I was almost ready to publish my third book when I was asked to edit a book being published by a friend, and I asked him who was publishing the book for him.  He told me that it was a local company, ALIVE Book Publishing.  I contacted their office and made an appointment to discuss plans and fees.  That was the beginning of a great experience, working with Eric and Peggy Johnson, two very warm, friendly, and knowledgeable people.  My book is now in print and available through major booksellers.  The process from beginning to end was quick and painless. I first met with Eric to discuss plans and prices, then submitted a computer file with the book and photos, and he guided me in choosing the cover design.  The graphic designer, Alex, beautifully retouched the very old photo that appears on the cover.  The quality of the finished book, Annie's Story, Memories of My Grandmother, is excellent, and I have distributed copies to many family members and friends of Annie, who can relive their own fond memories of her.  Many others have also told me that they were touched by the story. One of the many advantages of publishing with ALIVE is that my book was advertised in the monthly magazine of the same name, which is distributed to many outlets in our area.  Several of my friends and neighbors told me that they did not know I was an author until they saw my book advertised in ALIVE. I am in the process of writing my fourth book, and I am eagerly looking forward to working with Eric and Peggy again on the next one!
